Finding the rational points on curves

In this talk I will give a survey of the current state of the art in
finding the rational solutions to polynomial equations describing
algebraic curves. I will highlight the various methods involved with
respect to a recent joint project with Michael Stoll, to decide for all
equations of the form:
y^2=a_6 x^6+ a_5 x^5 + ... + a_0, with -3 <= a_i <= 3
whether there are rational solutions at all.
