MA246 Number Theory by Damiano Testa (tests Friday 11am, Room MS.02)

There are four 50-minute tests, at 11am on Fridays of weeks 2-5, plus a final exam closer to the end of term. Each week you will have a workbook covering the material that will be the subject of the next in-class test. I will post the solutions to the workbooks on the Thursday before each test, so you can compare your solutions with the ones available online. The final exam will cover material from all 5 workbooks (Workbook 5 will only be covered by the final exam, and not by any of the tests).

You can find the workbooks on this webpage, and you can also buy for £3 printed versions of them from the General Office.

As mentioned during the test, Q1 should have 1 ≤ r,s ≤ 318, and Q2 should have S={1,3,7,15,31,...}. Also, in the solutions I handed out, in A3 the required values of n are 1,2,3,4,6 (note the 6 instead of 5); the correct answer is still (b).
