SHORT BIO:

I am a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Number Theory Group of the Mathematics Institute of the University of Warwick, UK.

Prior to this, I held post-doctoral positions at the
Algebra and Geometry Group of the University of Barcelona, and at the
Arithmetic Geometry Group of University of Duisburg-Essen.

I also held long-term visiting positions at the
Hausdorff Institute for Mathematics (HIM), Bonn,
Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM), Providence,
Institute for Experimental Mathematics (IEM), Essen,
Mathematical Sciences Research Institue (MSRI), Berkeley.
Max Planck Institute for Mathematics (MPIM), Bonn,

I got my PhD from the UW-Madison in 2008, under the supervision of Nigel Boston.
I got my BSc from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2001, under the supervision of Ali Nesin.

Here is my Curriculum Vitae.

RESEARCH:

I am interested in algebraic number theory, cohomology of arithmetic groups, automorphic forms, modularity of abelian varieties and Galois representations.
I especially focus on the case where the arithmetic groups live in the Lie group PSL(2,C). I enjoy developing computer programs and carrying out numerical
experiments to explore and gain insight.

I am also involved in the construction of a database on Bianchi modular forms (that is, modular forms for GL(2) over imaginary quadratic fields) and related
arithmetic data inside the L-functions and Modular Forms Database (LMFDB).

My papers:

1. The nonexistence of certain representations of the absolute Galois group of quadratic fields,   Proc. Amer. Math Soc. 137 (2009), 27-35.

2. Weight reduction for mod ℓ Bianchi modular forms,   (with Seyfi Turkelli),   Journal of Number Theory. 129 (2009): 2010-2019

3. On the integral cohomology of Bianchi groups,   Experimental Mathematics. Volume 20, Issue 4, (2011): 487-505. The DATA discussed in the paper.

4. On the homology of non-arithmetic hyperbolic tetrahedral groups,   Int. Jour. Number Theory. Volume 08, Issue 2, (2012): 311-320. The DATA discussed in the paper.

5. On level one cuspidal Bianchi modular forms,   (with Alexander Rahm),   LMS Jour. Computation and Mathematics. Volume 16 (2013): 187-99.

6. Arithmetic aspects of Bianchi groups,   In ``Computations with Modular Forms", proceedings of a Summer School and Conference, Heidelberg, August/September 2011. Editors: G.Boeckle, G.Wiese. Contributions in Mathematical and Computational Sciences, Volume 6, 2014, Springer-Verlag. (refereed)

7. On the dimension of cohomology of Bianchi groups,   (with Seyfi Turkelli), submitted.

8. Torsion homology growth and cycle complexity of arithmetic manifolds,   (with Nicolas Bergeron and Akshay Venkatesh), submitted.

9. Theta lifts of Bianchi modular forms and applications to the Paramodularity Conjecture,   (with Tobias Berger, Lassina Dembélé and Ariel Pacetti), submitted.

10. Darmon points on elliptic curves over number fields of arbitrary signature,   (with Xevi Guitart and Marc Masdeu), submitted.

TEACHING:

I have many years of experience in teaching (at the levels of TA, Lecturer and also Coordinator) undergraduate math classes of varying levels.

Most recently, I taught a course on Modular Forms aimed at fourth year undergraduates and beginning graduate students.

Here is my Teaching Statement.

I taught/coordinated Math 101 classes in 2008 spring semester. Here is the LINK to the webpage of the class.

Here is a review sheet I prepared for Math101 from previous semesters.
