Aspects of hyperbolicity in geometry, topology, and dynamics

Practical issues

Registration: Please register for the conference if you plan to attend (scroll to the bottom of the linked page). If you are a speaker, student or recent PhD needing funding please indicate this on the registration form. Note that the MRC staff can assist with most issues, including lodging, but only if you register for the conference.

When you first arrive please check-in in-person at the MRC office (B1.37) in the Maths Institute. The talks are in the same building, in room MS.02.

Travel: Notice that the University of Warwick is not in Warwick. It is on the out-skirts of Coventry, somewhat close to the small town of Kenilworth. If you are travelling by train then the Coventry and Leamington Spa train stations are equidistant from the university. There are then several buses that go to the campus. The U1 bus and the 12 bus run from near both stations to campus. The 16 bus runs less frequently, and does not go to Leamington. The X17 bus runs from near both stations to within a 20 minute walk to the mathematics department. There is also a taxi stand at both stations, and at the university.

Here is a Google map http://g.co/maps/gku4v with walking directions from the Leamington Spa train station to the north-bound bus stop. From the Coventry station http://g.co/maps/f6rsb walk towards the A429, up the steps, and you are at the south-bound bus stop.

If you are travelling by plane then the closest airport is Birmingham (BHX). One then needs to take a train to Coventry or a taxi directly to the university. If you are flying into Heathrow (LHR) then the easiest way to get to campus is to take the National Express coach, service number 240, from LHR to Coventry Pool Meadow Bus Station, and then take the 12 bus, or a taxi.

Lodging: On-campus housing is available; please contact the MRC staff. Note that, due to university rules, the MRC office can only place you in on-campus housing. If you wish to stay off-campus you may book your own accommodation; if we have offered to cover your accommodation there will be no problem reimbursing receipts. There are several B&B's in Kenilworth: Abbey Guest House, Ferndale House, and Hollyhurst Guest House. Be aware that it is a 60 minute walk from Kenilworth to the department. However, the 12 bus runs twice an hour and takes about 10 minutes.

Food and Exercise: There are several restaurants and cafes on campus run by the university and by the student union. A list may be obtained from the MRC office. There is also a gym about a three minute walk from the Mathmatics Institute. Access is available to visitors; however you will need a letter from the MRC office and there is an entrance fee.

Sight-seeing: Nearby attractions include Kenilworth castle, Warwick castle, and Stratford-upon-Avon. I particularly recommend the RSC.
