Me
I originally come from the town of
Port Talbot
where I attended Glan Afan Comprehensive School.
From 1979-1983, I studied mathematics at the
University of Cambridge.
In 1983, I moved to
University of Warwick
to study for a PhD under the supervision of
David Epstein.
I then moved through a series of postdoctoral positions at the
Institute for Advanced Study Princeton,
back to the
University of Warwick,
then to
Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques
at Bures-sur-Yvette, the
University of Melbourne, and the
University of Aberdeen.
My first permanent positition was at the
University of Southampton,
where I was based from 1992 until 2007.
On 1st July 2007, I moved back to the
University of Warwick.
I retired from my position there on 3rd October 2022, and now have
``emeritus'' status.
During my time in Southampton and Warwick, I have been the guest of various
other institutions: including the Universities of
Zürich,
Auckland,
Melbourne,
Lille,
Toulouse,
Strasbourg,
Bonn,
Dijon,
Grenoble and
Orsay,
the
Tokyo Institute of Technology,
the
Centre de Recerca Matemàtica in Barcelona,
the
Max-Planck Institut and

Hausdorff Institute
in Bonn,
the
Centre Bernoulli in
Lausanne, the
Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule
in Zürich, the
Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut in

in Toronto.
Altogether, my travels have taken me to a number of different
places.
