Warwick Turbulence Symposium Workshop

Dynamical Systems
Fluid Dynamics
and Turbulence

October 31 to November 2, 2005

organized by Dwight Barkley and Laurette Tuckerman

This workshop will explore fluid dynamics and turbulence. The goal is to spend 3 days considering interesting dynamical phenomena across all areas of fluid dynamics. Participants will include experimentalists, computationalists, and theorists in (nearly) equal numbers. Topics will include:

  • global bifurcations and heteroclinic cycles

  • symmetries that break

  • vortices and their dynamics

  • drips and drops

  • dynamos

  • chaos: attractors, saddles, and mixers

  • and of course the transition to turbulence.
