A unified approach to Poisson reduction

Abstract

We show how a systematic use of the cotangent structures associated with a Poisson action leads naturally to Drinfeld's classification of Poisson homogeneous spaces, as developed by J. H. Lu. We sketch briefly how the same approach simplifies other reduction processes for Poisson structures.
