My Software

This page contains ancient Macintosh software (classic Mac OS only) which I wrote for my own use and which I am making available at no cost as a service to the Macintosh community. I cannot promise any support for the use of these files, as I no longer run classic Mac OS. The files are in BinHex-encoded StuffIt archives.

Moggy v1.0.7

Moggy is a Macintosh utility for transmogrifying files. It will change line endings between Mac, DOS and unix formats, allow the editing of file type and creator information, decode a number of binary to ascii encodings including BinHex, Base64, uuencode, btoa, xxencode, vvencode, boo, and convert to and from MacBinary format. Vvencode is a robust variant of uuencode developed by the UK TeX Users Group for transferring binary files between different operating systems via email, including preserving VMS variable record structures.
Printer Defaults v1.5.8

Printer Defaults is a Macintosh utility for customizing printer drivers and similar Chooser documents. I wrote it so that US versions of the LaserWriter drivers, which generally appear long before the international versions, can easily be modified to make A4 the default paper size. Since then it has had a number of additional features added, such as accessing options in LaserWriter 8.x which can otherwise only be accessed using a resource editor such as ResEdit. Always make a backup copy of any driver before attempting to modify it using Printer Defaults. You do so at your own risk.

The Harmonic Maps database is a collection of bibliographic references to papers on harmonic maps and related areas. The data is available in several formats (see the Harmonic Maps home page). For Macintosh users I have created a HyperCard database to simplify searching and extracting data. It is available in two versions, either as a stack or with the HyperCard player built in for those without HyperCard 2.3.
