SERGIOS AGAPIOU
Hello and welcome to my web page.
I am a final year PhD student of Mathematics at the University of Warwick.
My supervisors are Professor Andrew Stuart and Professor Neil O’Connell
and my studies in Warwick are funded by the European Research Council through Professor Stuart’s Advanced Investigator Grant.
In 2010, I obtained my MSc degree in Mathematics at Warwick University, under the supervision of Professor Stuart and Professor O’Connell. My MSc thesis, titled “A Classical and a Bayesian Approach to Linear Ill-Posed Inverse Problems”, was about dealing with the ill-posedness of linear inverse problems, in particular of a generalized Laplacian inverse problem, using two approaches:
a)Classical Approach - in particular the Tikhonov Regularization
b)Bayesian Approach
In my thesis we try to make apparent the connection between the two approaches and prove posterior consistency results.
In 2009, I completed my undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics in the School of Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences of the National Technical University of Athens.
My diploma dissertation was on Stable and Infinitely Divisible Distributions and my supervisor was Professor Spyros Argyros.
