This is the older version of the Warwick automatic groups software,
for calculating the automatic structure of a short-lex automatic group.
It was written by David Epstein, Derek Holt and Sarah Rees.

All programs are in C, or are Bourne shell scripts.
The programs should run on any UNIX system.

The file automata.tar unpacks into a single directory called "automata".
It occupies about 4 MBytes when compiled and cleaned up.
