Running Loops

back

It certainly seems that most Triathletes have NO sense of direction. To help there are a set of runs which Anna has mapped on Map My Run.

2.5km loop. Good run as its flat and well lit with only 1 road to cross.
This takes us out past Claycroft and along the road by Tesco. It stays on the path and loops left down Westwood Rd (where the residances are) than down past PowerGen and loop left again past the Varsity (no stopping - ed) and back onto the University Rd to the Sports Centre. If you want to cut it a bit short take the path by the pedestrian crossing opposite the track.

Round the Fields. Lovely run in the light and preferably when its dry, unless you like mud.
This one need a map, or ask to be shown - otherwise you'll get lost in the fields! First part takes us the the Hill Reps on grass.

Railway Line. Nice off road run. So there is lots of mud, brambles, orcs, trolls, Blackriders etc. Not my favorite - ask Roy for a mystery tour.

4 mile loop (6.5km). Sadly this is the stock winter run. Its well lit, dry and only 1 major road to cross.

About 5 miles (7.5km). This adds a bit onto the 4 mile loop.
Follow the 4 mile loop to the Cannon park roundabouts, then head down towards Westwood and round past the Varsity (effectively the back end of the 2.5km loop).

5 miles up Charter Ave. This is not such a nice loop as Charter Ave is a bit rough. Still makes a change
- in a group.
Out past the Porters Lodge and the Varsity then right up Westwood Rd to the roundabout. Turn left at the rounabout along Charter ave. Straight along C Ave and turn left at the top, follow this road for about 300m then turn left towards the University (it is signposted!) down Westwood Heath Rd. Follow this road down and turn right at the bottom and in past the Varsity. PS once your onto Westwood Heath Rd it is pretty much down hill from there, so make the most of it.

9km loop. This is a nice run, but hard work up some mean hills. Daylight only, there are no lights here.

12km loop. This just extends the 9km loop.
Follow the 9km loop until the turn at the top of the hill, CARRY straight on until you come out on the Kenilworth Rd (almost in Kenilworth) and turn left back to the Uni.

15km loop. The Castle Loop. Dark but just about ok in winter, its all pavements but a bit is unlit - torches are good, but you can make it without. People have got lost on this loop!!! Check the directions and ask someone who knows.
