Title: A-discriminants

Abstract: A-discriminants are the equations of dual variaties to equivariantly embedded projective toric varieties, and vastly generalize the classical discriminants of univariate or quadratic polynomials. The beautiful theory of A-discriminants was developed by Gelfand, Kapranov and Zelevinsky in the early 90's, but there are still many unsolved questions. In this talk we shall revisit the basic setting together with more recent results and applications, including some of these questions.
